About

The Initial Step to Healing Your Family’s Journey

We all go into parenting with the best intentions. Yet, we can find ourselves feeling overwhelmed and disrespected by the day-to-day choices kids make.

When you start a family and begin the parenting journey, it can bring about unexpected challenges. When parents struggle with meltdowns, outbursts, and disrespect from their kids, they can feel hopeless, unable to find help, misunderstood, and ashamed.

Many parents watch their friends or family members effectively parent with half the time, effort, and energy they are putting in themselves.

Parenting kids from hard places brings about daily challenges that can cause tension in your entire family and bring about the very thing your child fears – disconnection.

I’ve experienced what you are experiencing.

My parenting journey forced me to face behavioral challenges that I never thought I would have outside the therapy room.

Unexplained anger, physical aggression, and sadness disrupted the family.

I dealt with sleep disturbances and hyperactivity, and separation anxiety.

Because of my experiences, I quickly learned that with the right tools and strategies, children and their families could learn how to reconnect with one another and rediscover the joys of parenting

A Whole “Holistic” Child Approach to Healing

I offer a directive, compassionate, and unique approach to parenting that helps you and your family create lasting positive change. This approach goes beyond the traditional parenting recommendations you’ve possibly already heard and tried.

We explore and use relationship-based approaches that involve new techniques that most child-centered therapists don’t teach through a holistic lens.

We look at how diet, cognition, and sensory-based needs are potentially affecting your child and family.

Together, we can bring about lasting positive change.

About Me

I’m Michelle VanHatten and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over six years of experience as a clinician, community presenter, and clinical supervisor.

My approach is to help clients navigate behavioral challenges in their children, overcome the daily emotional rollercoasters, and strengthen your family.

By combining my licensed clinical background and personal experience into a whole “holistic” person/family approach, I support children and their families to have more connected and meaningful relationships.

My home is in Camillus, NY, with my family. In my spare time, I love bike riding, cooking, and enjoy being creative through art.
